A relaxed approach – Portsea

The latest coastal project designed by David Hicks brings a whole new meaning to the classic Australian beach house. Drawing on inspiration from its immediate surroundings, this Portsea project seamlessly integrates juxtaposed materials such as rough and honed stone, distressed timber and satin lacquer.

David’s design encompasses a relaxed approach, to embody Portsea’s serenity, while ensuring a certain level of sophistication which Hicks is renowned for. Nodding to modernist architecture and mid-century features, the design beautifully showcases the challenging engineering process, from a cantilevered pool to a fully glazed first floor living space.

Complementing the interiors with unique features such as imported Indian and French tables, custom oak dining table and stools and vintage Italian1940s armchairs, the Portsea house is now an abode that celebrates architecture, interiors and decoration as one.
