A presidential get-away

Esteemed design firm Pembrooke & Ives have brought new life to the once iconic winter escape of John and Jacqueline Kennedy in Palm Beach, Florida. Through the addition of color and light and some nothing less that incredible lighting, Pembrooke & Ives have reimagined this treasure of a home through a thoughtful renovation.
When the home was acquired it was in utter disrepair, unfortunately all too common of historic homes. Pembrooke & Ives went about piecing the house back to its original listed façade through archival photographs and documents. It has been a restoration with sensitive contemporary updates, sympathetic to the existing.
The home is so significant not only as part of the history of Palm Beach but also because of the people who have spent time here. President Kennedy is said to have formed his cabinet, written Profiles in Courage and his inauguration speech while here. What is so lovely is while the envelope of the building has been so lovingly restored and lavished with care; the interior is completely new, allowing its new occupants to write their own stories.
The interiors are certainly filled with whimsy and life! Colour, glamour and contemporary art abound – a fitting tribute and joyous new life for such a historic home.
