terraces & pavilions
The program for this single storey residence with multiple terraces and pavilions is based on Traditional Javanese houses opening up to maximize natural air circulation and natural light, supported by air quality and temperature.
Designed by Paulus Setyabudi Architects, the use of glass enhances the inside – outside relationship with the home divided into several pavilions that separate each other, allowing openings just about everywhere. The public spaces are placed at the front , while the private zones are placed to the rear for privacy and once again based on traditional Javanese homes.
The entrance is formed between 2 pavilions with the foyer able to receive guests and entertaining. Columns and steel beams and glass are used as the building envelope enabling the house to appear as light as possible whist the gable roof and exposed structure is a gentle nod to traditional Javanese architecture.
