Mutina new ranges
Patricia Urquiola, Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby, Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, Tokujin Yoshioka, Yael Mer and Shay Alkalay of Raw Edges, Inga Sempé, Konstantin Grcic and Hella Jongerius are the heart of Mutina. A close-knit team that share the same passions in their work: art, good design, architecture, product approach and a unique take on life and last week I I headed to Di Lorenzo tiles to preview 3 exciting new rages that re-defy tiles.
DIARAMA by Hella Jongerius – This collection is a study about pure colour, born out of the desire to give birth to a wide range of shades by stratifying colours, spontaneously and randomly.
is composed by various glazed chromatic references, applied on 7 different matt coloured clay bases. Each reference comes from the application of the same glaze on the top of the different coloured bases, which react in an unpredictable way and create an array of always inhedit nuances, distinguished in two macro-groups called Light and Dark.
In Diarama Black and White, the glaze applied on the 7 bases is respectively black, Iron, or white, Chalk. Diarama Mix overturns this principle: different coloured glazes are applied on the same black or grey base, creating Black Chroma and Grey Chroma. The collection consists of glazed homogeneous porcelain stoneware and is available in the nominal size 9,4 x 18,7 cm. Download sizes and colours.
MISTRAL by Barber & Osgerby
This collection is inspired by the echo of typical Italian countryside ancient architectures.
With Mistral, Mutina’s research into three-dimensional elements led to the fabrication of a single piece in tape casting terracotta that is geometrically sophisticated and well-balanced. The bases of the elements are multiples of the height, symbolising the versatility of the compositions. A variety of compositions are possible including horizontal, vertical, closed and open, and they are all adapted to both internal and external architecture. Mistral is available in the nominal size 12,5 x 25,5 x 12,5 cm. Download the Pdf for layout suggestions.
PRIMAVERA by Barber & Osgerby
This collection is a study about pure colour, born out of the desire to give birth to a wide range of shades by stratifying colours, spontaneously and randomly.
The designers have reproduced a slab that resembles a natural element with all its irregularities, perceptible to sight and touch, by throwing small coloured ceramic inserts in a completely random way, thus creating a unique and always different texture. Primavera consists of five basic colours (white, grey, blue, green and black) in various shades, delicately complementary and visually contrasting.
The collection is available in three sizes: 40 x 120 cm, 120 x 120 cm, and 120 x 240 cm and is suitable for floors and walls, both indoors and outdoors. Download sizes and colours
