CLOUD hotel

CLOUD hotel is the second resort in Moganshan, Zhejiang province designed by Studio8. A renovation of an existing building the Cloud Hotel represents “the cloud on the top of the castle”. The studio have taken the existing building as the castle, and worked in their design with the idea of the mountain, where the castle is nested, and the idea of the cloud as the crown of the castle.
The design teams final proposal divides the hotel in three strata: the mountain at the ground level, where the restaurant, cellar and swimming pool are placed; the castle is the existing building; and the cloud is a vaporous top added to the castle.
The materials used in the mountain layer are earthy and textured; for the castle, wood and concrete are the predominant materials, while the spaces in the cloud are ethereal thanks to the bright palette and curvy gestures in the architecture elements.
