Deeply connected – Tunnel House

Designed from the flat land and blank paper by Consuelo Jorge Architects , this house is inspired by the contemporaneous Brazilian architecture. Clean and high quality volumes without losing comfort and protective qualities.
The entrance tunnel, which gives the name to the house, “Tunnel House” is a strong point of pure-form architecture that enhances the connection between the inside and outside, forming a brutalist element that frames and directs the outlook.
The main idea of the project was for the occupants to connect with the landscape like one is “diving” into the framed views giving way to the idea of an inner courtyard. Another desire from the residents was to be able to access the garden within a few steps and fluidity. In this way, the studio designed the garden and the house almost on the same level and without barriers. The spaces are almost continuous, which gives a higher sense of amplitude.
