Horizontal transparency – Brazil

The House is understood as a floating building on a mountain. Created as a space for contemplation which simultaneously opens views to the garden and ocean. The home is integrated to the landscape reducing its presence just to a concrete volume. Other elements are materialised with natural stone from the site, which softens the build and pays reference to the local terrain.
Designed by Nordest Arquitectura, the interaction between the different spaces creates an enclosed garden protected from gusty winds allowing the garden to be enjoyed all year round whist staying connected within the building to the exterior.
The entrance to the house is via by a staircase excavated into the rock, providing access to the main level which is divided in two parts offering horizontal transparency to the courtyard and living spaces which capture views of the sea, garden and pool.
