Birdcage Monochrome Sophistication Derby Day 2014
Its my favourite time of year, Melbourne is alive and the streets are lined with handsome men and stylish women. The gates opened at Flemington in Melbourne for the Victoria Derby Day on Saturday, officially kicking off the four-day Melbourne Cup Carnival.
The fashion stakes were also high, with the commencement of the Myer Fashions on the Field competition. Hoping for a place in the prestigious Oaks Day final, women embraced Derby Day’s monochrome dress code with traditional black and white ensembles in sleek silhouettes including pants suits, stunning full skirts, which were dominant on the day.
Obviously it wasn’t all about the fashions there was the Birdcage buzz and oh… and a horse race! Polanski, dubbed the cut price horse that cost just $4,000 took out the number one spot winning $1.5 million on Derby Day!
The winner of this year’s Derby Day Myer Fashions on the Field went to Brodie Worrell and I couldn’t agree more.
